Deadly crash on I-15 causing traffic delays near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard

Investigators say two vehicles collided after one stopped in the center divide. Two other vehicles later became involved, forcing multiple lanes to close. The road agency says the man who died had been called to the scene by his daughter after her vehicle developed a mechanical issue. One person was reportedly extricated from a vehicle. Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries. Traffic was diverted to State Route 52 as crews worked to clear the scene. The road agency hopes to reopen all lanes by 7:30 a.m. The crash remains under investigation. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been factors.
