Source says

The 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon could be a record-setting day in more ways than one, and American competitors had big days on the streets of the city. In the men’s wheelchair race, Aaron Pike was the top American finisher, crossing the line in 1:30:17 to finish in fifth place unofficially.

Miguel Jimenez Vergara was the second-best American finisher in the race, finishing in ninth place overall. Marcel Hug of Switzerland won the race, setting a new unofficial course record with a time of 1:21:34. On the women’s side of things, Switzerland’s Catherine Debrunner set an unofficial world record of 1:33:16, while Tatyana McFadden of the United States finished with a time of 1:42:01, good for second place overall and tops among her countrywomen. In the men’s open race, a three-way battle between Americans unfolded on Sunday, with Vincent Mauri racing out to an early lead. Charles Hicks, who has the second-fastest time ever recorded by an American man in the marathon, ended up catching up to him around the 35K mark, and Clayton Young was also running in the same pack. In the women’s open division, Emma Grace Hurley is racing ahead of the field of American women, though she was just behind the record time set by Emily Sisson in the 2022 edition of the race. Dakotah Popehn and Natosha Rogers are trying to chase her down to be the top American woman to finish. Those spots are important both from a bragging rights perspective and from a financial perspective. The top American finishers in the men’s and women’s open divisions each collect a cool $15,000 bonus, with top-five finishers in those groups all receiving payouts. Second place American finishers walk away with $12,000, with prizes of $10,000, $7,000 and $5,000 also up for grabs.
