Source says

A gorgeous fall day in Chicago provided a perfect opportunity for some records to fall in the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. At least one world record was set on Sunday morning on the streets of Chicago, as Switzerland’s Catherine Debrunner scorched the 26.2-mile course in a time of 1:33:16, setting a new top mark in the women’s wheelchair race.

On the men’s side of things, Marcel Hug finished the wheelchair race in 1:21:34, setting a new Chicago Marathon record in the event. Several American records were also set during the event, including by Emma Grace Hurley, who earlier this year had set a new American women’s 8K record in the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago. This time around she was making history at the marathon distance, putting up a time of 2:20:47 in her first-ever marathon. According to Marathon officials, her time was the fastest by an American woman in her first marathon, and she was rewarded with a seventh place finish overall for her efforts. Another American record was set by a familiar face to Chicago Marathon fans, as 2017 champion Galen Rupp finished Sunday’s race in 2:06:55. Not only was that the 11th-best time overall in the men’s open division, but it also set a new American record in the master’s division, according to Marathon officials. Racers from around the world sought to set records on the streets of Chicago, and at least one succeeded, as Australia’s Isobel Batt-Doyle set a new women’s marathon record for her country with a time of 2:20:38.
