Speaking exclusively with NBC Chicago, she credited the crowd with helping her through the challenges of running a marathon. First Chicago race. How d you feel? NBC Chicago s Alex Maragos asked. It was awesome, it s a little hot, Chelsea Clinton said. I hoped it would be a little cooler, but there was so much enthusiasm and look at how excited everyone is. So even on a hot day, it was pretty awesome. Chelsea Clinton ran for the organization Every Mother Counts, a nonprofit started by her friend Christy Turlington that works to make pregnancy and childbirth safer for women in the U.S. and around the world. It shouldn t be dangerous to bring life into the world, she said. Did you hear the crowd out around you? How did you feel? Maragos asked. Did you feed off of them at all? Oh my gosh, absolutely, especially at the end. When it was feeling really hot under the sun, the enthusiasm certainly carried me across and I m sure if you interviewed anyone else running, they d say the same thing, she said. The former first daughter may return to the Chicago Marathon one day. I hope so, maybe on a cooler day, she said. Sunday s race marked Chelsea Clinton s third marathon.
