A Bears fan ran 24 miles after finishing the Chicago Marathon, and here's why

Source says

Chase Bandolik is a Chicago Bears fan and avid runner, and the combination of his two passions led to an incredible feat of athleticism on Sunday. Like many Bears fans, Chase said he would feel discouraged after a loss. So four years ago, the former college football player decided to do something about it, running one mile for every point lost by the team, documenting his runs on social media.

I started because after the games, I would get pretty frustrated, he said. It affects my mood when they lose. And something that makes me feel really good is running, just the endorphins and all that good stuff. So, I figured, you know what? Why not do something I love? He s also a marathoner, but this was the first time the Bears-Packers rivalry game fell on the same day as the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. His wife Rylee is a Packers fan, and they both thought she d be doing the running. In fact, Chase was so confident in his team, he even donned a special accessory during the Marathon in the nearly 80 degree weather. I did go a little extra this year and threw on the Cheese Grater hat for the rivalry. [It was] a lot hotter than I thought. I put it on, and it felt like I had like a wool hat on. I was drenched in sweat. My face was beet red the whole time, he said. I thought maybe I d wear it for the first few miles. But every third person was chanting, hyped about it, so I was like, I gotta keep this on the whole time.' The couple finished the Marathon in just under four and a half hours. Unfortunately for Chase (and fortunately for Rylee), the Packers ended up thrashing the Bears 31-7, meaning that under normal circumstances, Chase would have to run 24 miles. Even though he had already run 26.2 miles for the marathon he then took on another 24 mile run along the lakefront. Surprisingly, not [feeling] too bad. I feel like I was more sore after the Marathon than after the additional 24. I don t know if it loosened up my legs or what, but after the first 26, I was feeling very tight. And then I started running. It actually felt like it was like loosening me up, he said. Despite the loss in Green Bay, and after running 50 miles in one day, Chase still feels confident in his team moving forward. I trust in Ben Johnson, everything they re doing. So this year, I m predicting no more running the rest of the season, and a Bears Super Bowl, he said.
