Las Vegas Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Las Vegas and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A heavier week on the roads, with I-11 coming up most. Power, construction and transit were busier than the week before.
Half of Las Vegas's road incidents clear within 86 minutes. The longest ran 31 hours.
Measured from 178 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Las Vegas's outages clear within 89 minutes. The longest ran 6 days.
Measured from 163 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Las Vegas's construction notices clear within 8.7 hours. The longest ran 35 hours.
Measured from 16 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Las Vegas averaged 5 transit alerts a week over the last 3 weeks.
Measured from 15 counted, the last 3 weeks.
Week by week
Transit alerts fell from 7 to 4 last week. Road, power and construction have held steady. Water stayed quiet.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.
Where Las Vegas was hit this week
85 percent of road incidents in the last 7 days happened on four roads.
Areas, most affected first
135 placedWhat the map says
Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard in downtown Las Vegas: within 2 miles is Downtown Las Vegas, within 10 miles (about where the 215 beltway runs) is that side of the valley, and beyond that is the metro. Henderson is its own centre: anything within 6 miles of downtown Henderson is placed as Henderson. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown Las Vegas, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Wards are the City of Las Vegas's six council wards, from its GIS. Henderson, North Las Vegas and unincorporated Clark County (the Strip, Spring Valley and Enterprise) have their own governments and are shown on the metro map.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Nov 4, 6:45 AM PT.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
