Macon Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Macon and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A steady week on the roads, with I-75 coming up most. Transit was quiet.
Half of Macon's road incidents clear within 1.5 hours. The longest ran 9.5 hours.
Measured from 29 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Half of Macon's construction notices clear within 8.9 hours. The longest ran 13 hours.
Measured from 41 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Week by week
Construction notices fell from 23 to 18 last week. Road incidents eased. Water and power have held steady.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.

Areas, most affected first
29 placedWhat the map says
Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from Poplar Street and Cherry Street in downtown Macon: within 2 miles is Downtown Macon, within 8 miles (about where I-475 runs on the west side) is that side of Macon, and beyond that is the metro. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown Macon, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Areas are the cities of Bibb, Houston and Jones counties: Macon-Bibb County, Warner Robins, Perry, Centerville, Byron and Fort Valley, from the Census Bureau's boundary files. Places that are not incorporated have no area drawn: items there are shown on the metro map.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Oct 26, 4:07 AM ET.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
