Twin Cities Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Twin Cities and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A steady week on the roads, with I-94 coming up most. Water was quiet.
Half of Twin Cities's road incidents clear within 87 minutes. The longest ran 5 days.
Measured from 1022 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Twin Cities's outages clear within 2.1 hours. The longest ran 18 hours.
Measured from 413 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Twin Cities's construction notices clear within 7 hours. The longest ran 4 days.
Measured from 134 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Twin Cities's transit alerts clear within 2 hours. The longest ran 14 days.
Measured from 659 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Week by week
Construction notices have eased two weeks running, 97 to 52. Road, power and transit have held steady. Water stayed quiet.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.

Areas, most affected first
492 placedWhat the map says
Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from Minneapolis City Hall: within 2.5 miles is Downtown Minneapolis, within 9 miles (about where the I-494 and I-694 ring runs) is that side of the metro, and beyond that is the rest of the metro. St. Paul is its own centre: anything within 4.5 miles of its downtown is placed as St. Paul. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown Minneapolis, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Wards are the thirteen City of Minneapolis council wards, from the city's GIS. St. Paul and the suburbs have their own governments and are shown on the metro map.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Nov 4, 8:43 AM CT.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
