Orlando Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Orlando and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A steady week on the roads, with SR 417 coming up most. Water and power were busier than the week before.
Half of Orlando's road incidents clear within 2 hours. The longest ran 17 hours.
Measured from 1013 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Half of Orlando's outages clear within 6.9 hours. The longest ran 23 hours.
Measured from 77 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Half of Orlando's construction notices clear within 5.5 hours. The longest ran 2 days.
Measured from 255 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Week by week
Outages rose from 25 to 42 last week. Water issues rose. Road, construction and transit have held steady.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.
Where Orlando was hit this week
51 percent of road incidents in the last 7 days happened on four roads.
Areas, most affected first
655 placedWhat the map says
Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from Orlando City Hall in downtown Orlando: within 2 miles is Downtown Orlando, within 8 miles (about where the Orange County beltway of SR 408 and SR 417 runs) is that side of Orlando, and beyond that is the metro. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown Orlando, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Areas are the cities and towns of Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties: Orlando, Kissimmee, Winter Park, Apopka, Sanford, Clermont and the rest, from the Census Bureau's boundary files. Places that are not incorporated have no area drawn: items there are shown on the metro map.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Oct 27, 4:52 AM ET.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
