Provo-Orem Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Provo-Orem and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A steady week on the roads, with MP 275 coming up most. Water and construction were quiet.
Half of Provo-Orem's road incidents clear within 3 hours. The longest ran 30 hours.
Measured from 59 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Provo-Orem averaged 2.2 transit alerts a day over the last 2 weeks.
Measured from 31 counted, the last 2 weeks.
Road incidents cluster between 4 PM and 5 PM: 15 percent of them start in that one hour.
Measured from 60 road incidents, the last 2 weeks.
Week by week
Transit alerts fell from 55 to 18 last week. Road incidents eased. Power has held steady.
In the week of Oct 11, transit alerts ran three times a normal week, and 42 of the 55 landed on Sunday Oct 11.
Measured from 55 counted transit alerts, 42 on Sunday.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.

Areas, most affected first
29 placedWhat the map says
Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from Center Street and University Avenue in downtown Provo: within 2 miles is Downtown Provo, within 6 miles (about where I-15 runs through Orem) is that side of Utah Valley, and beyond that is the metro. Orem and Lehi are their own centres: anything within 4 miles of downtown Orem is placed as Orem, and within 5 miles of downtown Lehi as Lehi. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown Provo, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Areas are the cities and towns of Utah County, from the state's municipal boundary layer. Unincorporated areas of Utah County are not drawn.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Oct 26, 2:07 AM MT.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
