Sacramento Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Sacramento and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A steady week on the roads, with I-80 coming up most. Construction was busier than the week before.
Half of Sacramento's road incidents clear within 83 minutes. The longest ran 26 hours.
Measured from 1058 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Sacramento's outages clear within 2 hours. The longest ran 4 days.
Measured from 156 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Sacramento's construction notices clear within 7.9 hours. The longest ran 2 days.
Measured from 269 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Sacramento averaged 4 transit alerts a week over the last 3 weeks.
Measured from 12 counted, the last 3 weeks.
Week by week
Transit alerts have eased two weeks running, 25 to 1. Road, power and construction have held steady. Water stayed quiet.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.

Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from the State Capitol: within 3 miles is Downtown Sacramento, within 10 miles is that side of Sacramento, and beyond that is the metro, from Davis and Woodland to Roseville, Folsom and Elk Grove. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named, as locals say it: I-10, US-101, SR-91. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Districts are the City of Sacramento's eight City Council districts, from the City's own layer. They cover the City of Sacramento only, so anything in Elk Grove, Roseville, Folsom, Davis, West Sacramento or the rest of the county belongs to none of them and is shown on the metro map.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Nov 4, 6:42 AM PT.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
