San Diego Tracker

Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across San Diego and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.

Transit alerts fell from 178 to 121 last week. Outages and construction notices eased. Road has held steady.

Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.

Where San Diego was hit this week

What the map says

Tap a row to see it on the map.

Areas are measured from City Hall in downtown San Diego: within 3 miles is Downtown San Diego, within 12 miles is that side of San Diego, and beyond that is the rest of the county, from the border to Oceanside and east to Alpine. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named, as locals say it: I-10, US-101, SR-91. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Districts are the City of San Diego's nine City Council districts. They cover the City of San Diego only, so anything in Chula Vista, El Cajon, Oceanside, Escondido or the other cities of the county belongs to none of them and is shown on the metro map.

Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Oct 26, 1:07 AM PT.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
