Stockton Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Stockton and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A steady week on the roads, with I-5 coming up most. Water and transit were quiet.
Half of Stockton's road incidents clear within 1.6 hours. The longest ran 26 hours.
Measured from 396 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Stockton's outages clear within 2.3 hours. The longest ran 16 hours.
Measured from 53 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Half of Stockton's construction notices clear within 6.1 hours. The longest ran 32 hours.
Measured from 51 with a start and end time, the last 3 weeks.
Week by week
Outages fell from 26 to 12 last week. Road and construction have held steady. Water and transit stayed quiet.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.
Where Stockton was hit this week
46 percent of road incidents in the last 7 days happened on four roads.
Areas, most affected first
144 placedWhat the map says
Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from Stockton City Hall on the waterfront: within 2 miles is Downtown Stockton, within 8 miles (about where Highway 99 and I-5 run on either side of town) is that side of Stockton, and beyond that is the metro. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown Stockton, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Areas are the cities of San Joaquin County in the box: Stockton, Lodi, Tracy, Manteca, Lathrop, Ripon, Escalon, Galt and Mountain House, from the Census Bureau's boundary files. Places that are not incorporated have no area drawn: items there are shown on the metro map.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Nov 4, 6:37 AM PT.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
