Tampa Tracker
Every road closure, water issue, outage, construction notice and transit alert the city's agencies, utilities and newsrooms reported across Tampa and the close-in metro, counted week by week. No login, no feed. Just the numbers, and where they landed.
What the numbers say
A steady week on the roads, with US 19 coming up most. Construction and transit were busier than the week before.
Half of Tampa's road incidents clear within 88 minutes. The longest ran 15 hours.
Measured from 323 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Half of Tampa's outages clear within 6.9 hours. The longest ran 2 days.
Measured from 108 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Half of Tampa's construction notices clear within 5.3 hours. The longest ran 2 days.
Measured from 123 with a start and end time, the last 2 weeks.
Week by week
Road incidents rose from 146 to 171 last week. Outages rose. Construction and transit have held steady.
Weeks start on Sunday. One thing is counted once per place per day, and something that runs for days counts on the day it started. Brief lane blocks that cleared inside an hour are left out, closures scheduled to run longer than a week are roadworks rather than incidents, an outage counts when it left 10 or more customers without power, and stories about policy or funding are not incidents.

Areas, most affected first
245 placedWhat the map says
Tap a row to see it on the map.Areas are measured from Tampa City Hall in downtown Tampa: within 2 miles is Downtown Tampa, within 8 miles (about where the Veterans Expressway and the bridges across the bay run) is that side of Tampa, and beyond that is the metro. An item with no coordinates is counted in the totals but not placed on the map. Corridors come from the road a source named. Interstates are split into the stretch north, south, east or west of downtown Tampa, since one number for a whole interstate hides where the trouble is. Areas are the cities and towns of Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties: Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo, Plant City and the rest, from the Census Bureau's boundary files. Places that are not incorporated have no area drawn: items there are shown on the metro map.
Sources are read every ten minutes, and the counts are rebuilt whenever one of them publishes something new. Last counted Oct 27, 4:52 AM ET.
Only what these sources published. Nothing inferred. Counted once when an agency and a newsroom report the same thing.
